Critical Technology Studies
Section Info:
Critical Technology Studies - This seminar will read key texts in critical technology studies to consider how race, gender, indigeneity, and sexuality shape the code and machines that shape us. In addition to critical readings by scholars including Wendy Hui Kyong Chun, Ruha Benjamin, Safiya Noble, and Tara McPherson, we will also be looking at critical approaches to videogames as the occasion for our inquiry to understand how feminist, indigenous, queer, and critical ethnic studies approaches might transform how we think about and beyond representations, algorithms, and social media.
