Examines the social and cultural origins of modern technology and technological innovation; the effects of technology and its change on society. Topics include the impact of technology on beliefs and values, accommodation and resistance to change, and technology and the Third World.

This asynchronous class is designed to be highly interactive. Students will always have at least 24 hours to complete their tasks, in order to accommodate for time zone differences and other scheduling issues. Twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday), I will post a package of recorded lectures, exercises, debate questions, and other activities that students will be required to complete by the end of the following day (Wednesday and Friday). Office hours will be held over Zoom.
