Section Info:
Topic: Textiles and Soft Sculpture. This course will explore fiber-based making through materials, processes, historical context and contemporary practices. Students will be introduced to fabriculture through felt, crochet, embroidery, textile design and sewn soft-sculpture. Process-based skill building will be paired with research and self-initiated studio projects. The course will culminate in an exhibition of work made during the class. The yield sign icon indicates that there are open seats, but some seats may be restricted to majors or minors. Check your registration screen to see if there is an open seat for you. This class will be taught following a hybrid model. This means the majority of the course content will be given remotely through Compass 2g in advance of once-weekly in-person studio meetings. All in-person meetings will comply with CDC guidelines. If you have concerns about meeting in-person, or will not be on campus in the fall, please discuss this with the instructor before the class begins so we can determine appropriate accommodations & alternatives.
