Particular focus on the gendered gaze and film form. Study of film genre, theory, and themes (sexuality, coming of age, parenting, cinécriture) in select mainstream and experimental films, in order to imagine a feminine aesthetic in editing, camera work, and narrative art. Readings by Mulvey, Fliterman-Lewis, De Lauretis, Silverman, Tarr, and others. Films and writings by G. Dulac, M. Epstein, A. Varda, D. Kurys, C. Denis, C. Akerman, M. Duras, C. Serreau, C.
