Prerequisite: For non-music majors only.

Students must register for one lecture and one discussion section unless offered online.

Section Info: SECTION INFO: Provides non-music majors with basic listening skills, the ability to discuss music intelligently, and an acquaintance with many types of music. Will be taught differently than recent iterations of the course. No required text. Students will simulate live performance attendance using online materials (UIUC regulations prohibit the instructor from requiring actual concert attendance). Grades determined exclusively by class and discussion section attendance, participation in discussion sections including presentations, and a series of written assignments related to online performances. Computers, phones, and other electronic devices are not as a matter of course to be used in the classroom.
