(Summer session, 2 or 4 graduate hours.) May be repeated to a maximum of 16. Prerequisite: MUS 313 and MUS 314; two of the following: MUS 410, MUS 411, MUS 412, MUS 413, MUS 414, or MUS 415, or equivalent.

TOPIC: Ralph Vaughan Williams This seminar class will study a selection of works by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) in the light of historical-cultural concepts that have become associated with his music: these include Englishness, pastoralism, anti-industrialism and (more recently) modernism.
