Provides guided practice in observing music teaching and learning in large ensemble and classroom settings. Develops professional perspective and vocabulary for analyzing effective teaching, diverse learning styles, and patterns of music instruction in a variety of contexts. Includes 16 hours of early field experience. Must complete criminal background check prior to observing in schools.

Prerequisite: Music education majors accepted into Teacher Certification Track.

NOTE: Students registering for this course will be registered for the following course by the School of Music: EDPR 203 - This course is for 0 credit but carries the "Clinical Experience Fee". Students may NOT register for this course until they have passed the Test of Academic Proficiency offered by Illinois Cert. Testing System or until they have reported a score of 22 or higher on the ACT with writing test. The student will then be given a 1TCH attribute which is necessary to add MUS 240 and the other course.
