Advanced Seminar Research
Section Info:
This class will meet in room 37 Education Building on the following weekends: Aug 26-27, Sept 23-24, Oct 14-15 and Nov 11-12. This course is designed to help gain a general understanding of research methods in education, particularly research pertaining to P/K-20 education as well as educational leadership and policy. This course provides an introduction to theoretical and conceptual paradigms that inform the research process, methodology, and practice. Students will also engage in both readings and discussions regarding various quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches as well as data collection tools. Finally, students will use the aforementioned concepts and tools to 1) effectively critique and evaluate the research methods of a journal article, policy report, or dissertation; and 2) prepare a research proposal relating to educational research or policy analysis.
