Credit: 2 hours.

All aspects of dairy cattle nutrition will be discussed including nutrients, phase feeding (milk curve analysis, dry matter intake, and body weight loss), dry and transition cow programs, forage feeding systems, feed delivery approaches, metabolic disorders related to nutrition, and application of various dairy feeding guides.

Prerequisites: ANSC 201 or equivalent, or consent of instructor.

Online and Continuing Education (OCE) restrictions and assessments apply, see http://www.oce.illinois.edu. No class on Labor Day, Sept 5th. Clarification of the assessment notations listed below: graduate students will be assessed $362 per credit hour; undergrad students will be assessed $325 per credit hour. All students will be assessed a $50 per credit hour administration fee. These assessments are in addition to the campus range assessments if students also take an on-campus class. This course includes online synchronous class sessions where students will meet online using the Go to Webinar conferencing technology. Students will need a working external microphone/speakers or headset with microphone and reliable high-speed internet. Wireless Internet is not recommended.
