Topic: International Reporting - Foreign Correspondents in Training. Students enrolled in this course will spend spring semester researching the country of Romania in preparation for an international reporting trip to Romania, with a weeklong stopover in Rome, Italy. Under the guidance of Professor Nancy Benson, students in the class will produce a two-hour radio show upon their return to the U.S., and maintain a Web site during their travels to document research and create a travelogue. Romania is a gateway to exploring European Union expansion. As a relatively new EU country, with a developing economy and democracy, Romania still has many pressing problems to solve. This creates a rich environment to pursue a range of story topics. Under the broad theme of examining European Union expansion, students in the course will report on the impact of admitting Romania to the EU from both inside and outside Romania
