Advanced study in the use of voltage-controlled synthesizers in music composition and study of compositional, technical, and performance considerations in combining electronics with traditional instruments and/or voices in music composition.

Prerequisite: MUS 407 or placement by examination.

Intermediate study in the use MIDI synthesizers, sound design, audio engineering techniques and digital audio recording/editing/processing as applied to electroacoustic concert art music. Intermediate level analog and digital recording, digital editing, mixing, processing and synthesis techniques are presented, and then used by students during lab times. Prerequisite: Music 407 or placement by examination.
