Major topics in Hispanic intellectual history; sample topics include El ensayo como genero instrumental de las ideas: El peso de la identidad cultural, Corrientes ideologicas coloniales, and Idealismo y realismo.

May be repeated to a maximum of 8 hours if topics vary. Prerequisite: A related 400- or 500-level course in Spanish or Spanish American Studies or consent of instructor.
