Critical study of selected 20th century writers with an emphasis on cultural background, world view, human relationships, aesthetic theories, Japanese and Western traditions, and universal literary issues.

Same as CWL 415. 3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours. Requires no knowledge of Japanese; readings and films. Prerequisite: Junior standing or consent of instructor.
