Credit: 4 hours.

Course examines the basic theories, issues, methods, and materials for a developmental K-8 language arts program. Emphasizes language arts (including reading, as well as writing, speaking , and listening) as tools for learning across the curriculum. Addresses cultural diversity in language arts instruction, with emphasis on linguistic diversity.

Prerequisite: CI 467, admission to the Elementary Teacher Education Program.
