(LIS 430) The principles and practices of designing systems, particularly network information systems. Critical evaluation of current Internet infrastructure plus evolution of research architectures. Historical survey of functionality of system components. Design project required. Familiarity with commercial on-line services assumed.

Prerequisite: CS 411 and LIS 456, or consent of instructor.
