(LIS 353) Issues and tools for remote technology- based communication and information systems. Current and historical trends in methods for electronic information dissemination and communication, and their impact on society, organizations and individuals are discussed. Topics include systems, issues and changes in: interpersonal, group, and mass communication; publishing; information access; education; and other areas. Hands-on use and evaluation of currently available network-based communication and retrieval systems.

3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: LIS 451 or consent of instructor.
