(HORT 106) Fundamentals of home gardening and the effective use of ornamentals as a part of the home environment. Subjects include the selection, culture, and use of garden annuals, biennials, perennials, bulbs, and house plants; garden tools and equipment; soil preparation; plant propagation; principles of design and planting methods; garden maintenance; use of fertilizers; pest control; training and pruning; lawn care; hybridizing; growing structures; and care of cut flowers. Not open to students in the horticulture curriculum.
