The EU in Global Context focuses on the interests of European Union and Europe in global perspective. Topics examined include historical issues of identity, foreign policy, and global networks. The course asks several broad questions: How are the global actions of the European Union a continuation of the long-term ambitions of European societies? How do these actions diverge from historical narratives and patterns? How is the EU's global influence best understood? How do actors from around the world approach interactions with individuals, organizations and institutions within the European Union?
