Section Title:
Pol. Leadership & Integration
Section Info:
Political Leadership and European Integration: From Robert Schuman in the immediate aftermath of the 2nd World War to Ursula von der Leyen in 2025, political leaders at the helm of various European nation-states or EU institutions have been central to the ongoing project to integrate Europe. This course broadly examines the dynamic and complex relationship between political leadership on the one side and European integration on the other. Topics covered include, among other things, multi-level decision-making by European political leaders, the impact of leadership styles on EU governance, case studies of key leaders especially as they relate to mechanisms, processes, and effects of European integration, as well as theories of European integration. Applicable course for Undergraduate Certificate in EU Studies. Counts toward MAEUS degree or Graduate Minor in EU Studies.
