This graduate seminar on Baroque art examines the ways in which artists and architects like Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Caravaggio, Artemisia Gentileschi, Nicolas Poussin, Jusepe de Ribera, Peter Paul Rubens, Velázquez, and Francisco de Zurbarán engaged with the rapidly shifting religious, philosophical, and scientific discourses of seventeenth-century Europe.
