Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.

Students will gain cross-cultural knowledge and awareness of the diversity of cultures within the Latine population, as well as the issues that impact these communities, including historical patterns of immigration and oppression, socioeconomic disparities, documented status, and complex racial and ethnic identities. Students will also learn about models and theoretical principles of social work practice with Latine and explore the challenges and opportunities in providing social services to Latine individuals, families, and communities. For graduate credit, students must participate in a community service-learning project, supporting a community organization that serves Latine clients to gain hands-on experience and contribute to community betterment.

Same as LLS 412. 3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Restricted to Sophomore standing or higher.
