Information Technology Services for Youth

Credit: 3 hours.

This course examines the intersections between youth, information, and technology from a socio-technical perspective. This course will provide both practical experience and theoretical knowledge for understanding the ways youth engage with information via technology, as well as various developmental, social, personal, and cultural contexts that inform those interactions. Students will evaluate examples of youth information and communication technology use and analyze factors including identities, educational and social structures, opportunities and risks, learning and literacy, and potential futures in these areas.

Prerequisite: IS 358 Highly recommended.
