- This is a writing workshop for students who have studied abroad and want to deepen their understanding of globalization by writing about their own experiences. Writing in the first person raises fundamental questions about identity, power, cultural understanding, and representation. In this class we challenge ourselves to chronicle our global encounters in ethical, thoughtful, and creative ways. We read and discuss narrative nonfiction and personal essays by contemporary writers and we write to have it all -- vivid characters, true stories, accurate information, perceptive ideas, and robust language.
