Credit: 3 hours.

Examines children’s development from prenatal stages through childhood, with emphasis on early childhood and the influence of socio-cultural context on learning. Drawing on developmental and educational psychology, we explore biological, physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and moral foundations, and how these domains interact with each other and the environment. Students will observe and evaluate children’s behaviors, apply developmental theories to practice, and identify strategies to support growth in formal and informal educational settings.

Credit is not given toward graduation for: both EPSY 236 and PSYC 216.

On request, students will be required to participate in a total of 3 hours of experiments outside of class.
