Topic: Understanding and Using Generative AI. This is a hybrid course with online work done individually and a required in-person Monday class. This course is an introduction to what AI is, to how it works, to what it can be used for, and to its associated societal impacts. It will give a solid grounding in How AI Works without going into details that require a significant mathematical background. Students will learn the basics of Prompt Engineering and get hands-on experience using AI for a myriad of purposes, spanning the gamut of current uses. Throughout the course, students will discuss some of the main ethical and societal implications arising from the availability of recent AI systems.
