Introduces the ancestral Maya of the southern lowlands in Central America and focuses on the rise and fall of kings (c. 100 BCE-900 CE), water management, religion, sustainable practices, ritual and politics, impacts of the colonial period, and the Maya today. Excavation, iconography, inscriptions and ethnographic data are used to reveal past life ways as well as how past lessons are relevant today.
