- Section Title:
- AI and Reputation Management
- Section Info:
- AI and Reputation Management: Opportunities and Threats. This course examines the use of generative artificial intelligence and related AI tools in corporate communications, media relations and investor relations departments. One theme in the course is the practical ways PR practitioners use AI proactively in reputation management (e.g., research, writing, editing). A second theme is the impact user-friendly AI platforms and tools have had in creating and amplifying threats to organizational reputation (e.g., spread of misinformation, deep fakes), as well as what organizations can do to protect and respond to attacks on their reputation. This is not a skills course; however, multiple assignments are designed so that students can develop and enhance their ability to use AI to complete PR relevant tasks. Prerequisite: ADV 310 will be enforced. *Eligible for the PR Minor: https://media.illinois.edu/pr_minor.
- Restriction(s):

- AI & ADV: Industry Views
- Section Info:
- AI in Advertising: Industry Views & Practical Applications: This 1-credit seminar-style course explores how artificial intelligence is actively reshaping the advertising industry. Through live, virtual conversations with industry professionals, students will learn how AI tools are being used to conduct research and mine insights, support creative development, plan and optimize media, personalize messaging at scale, forecast performance outcomes, and manage brand visibility in answer engines. This class complements existing advertising coursework by grounding AI in real-world practice rather than theory alone.
