Credit: 2 hours.
Students will complete specific modules of readings and videos daily and practice medical vocabulary in Hindi/Urdu as a group virtually twice weekly. The group meeting will allow for reviewing module content and practicing patient interview skills in Hindi/Urdu with a focus on recognizing cultural differences that are specific to the South Asia healthcare system. The goal is to encourage medical students to provide more culturally sensitive care and advocate for the local Hindi-speaking patient population.
No graduate credit. 2 professional hours. Approved for S/U grading only. May be repeated in separate semesters to a maximum of 12 hours. Prerequisite: Restricted to students enrolled in Carle Illinois College of Medicine.
