This course will be an introduction to critical cultural approaches to rhetoric. We will review the origins, commitments and debates within critical/cultural rhetorical studies and study key concepts within this tradition, such as power, ideology, affect, and materialism. Students will develop a research project that contributes to one of the broad themes of the course (or that introduces one we ignore).
