Explores the diversity of poetry in English from 1960 to the present, focusing on various poetic movements (the Beats, confessionals, New York school, ecopoetics, postcolonial poetry, poetry of witness, and spoken word). Poets for consideration include Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, Adrienne Rich, Frank O’Hara, Gary Snyder, Derek Walcott, Carolyn Forché, Sharon Olds, Rita Dove, and Mark Doty.

Prerequisite: Completion of the Composition I requirement.
