FA25 CW 208 - Creative Nonfiction Workshop - Katrina Gaffney - Welcome to the “fourth genre,” better known as creative nonfiction. Via workshop and craft discussions, we’ll collectively work to sculpt a definition for creative nonfiction by reading the likes of Kiki Petrosino, Eula Biss, James Baldwin, and Viet Thanh Nguyen (among others). We’ll also explore how this expansive genre’s roots in truth have the unique potential to ignite intersections between prose and lyric. Over the course of this class, you will harness your past craft knowledges to compose creative nonfiction essays and practice literary citizenship.
