Designed for students majoring or minoring in chemistry who wish to undertake individual studies of a non-research nature under the direction of a faculty member of the department.

Approved for both letter and S/U grading. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor and written approval of department head. Staff for the course is the same as for CHEM 599.

Surveyed topics will include standard regression and classification algorithms, neural network architectures, unsupervised learning, clustering, molecular featurization techniques and best practices for machine learning. The course serves as a practical introduction to these techniques in Python using existing chemical datasets. Meets with CHBE 594 DS, CHEM 452, and CHBE 413. Restriction(s): Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
