This course is designed to provide students with information about the types of books that are available by Black authors and illustrators featuring Black characters for young people. We will read and discuss books from picture books, middle grade, and young adult, as well as reading articles that pertain to these groups, books, and to library services. The projects give you opportunities to think about ways to engage with these groups and will prepare you for some of the duties you may have as a children’s and/or teen librarian.

Not intended for students with Freshman or Sophomore class standing.
