SP24 - ENGL 481 - Composition Theory and Practice - Charlesia McKinney - This course will prioritize perspectives of power and privilege as it shapes the most common ideas about writing. Rhetoric is typically viewed as an outdated concept, but our course will illuminate how frequently we encounter rhetoric and writing every day. We’ll begin with an overview of historical perspectives to aid the implementation of current rhetorical and composition theories. To interrogate writing means interrogating the self -- therefore, our coursework will inevitably engage your identities, cultures, interests, and lived experiences as the foundation of your academic inquiry.
