This course will study research on social movements and activism, with an emphasis on work in Communication and Rhetoric. The course will survey some of the major approaches to and debates within the study of social movements, contextualize recent activism within histories of movements, and explore an interdisciplinary toolbox of key concepts, theories, and methodologies for the study of social protest and social movement(s).
