Topic: How has Italian society changed over the past century? To what extent and in what respects have globalization, migration, and colonialism impacted cultural production? To answer these questions, the course examines texts by philosophers such as Giorgio Agamben and Antonio Negri, as well as novels by Andrea Camilleri and Igiaba Scego. Through the lens of nonfiction books, notably Roberto Saviano's Gomorrah, this course also addresses the problem of the intertwining between economic globalization and Italian organized crime.
