In this course, we will cover a variety of methods that seismologists use to probe the structure and dynamics of the interior of Earth and other planetary bodies. A wide range of topics will be explored including the fundamentals of seismic wave propagation, seismic imaging, and earthquake source inversion. The course will consist of lectures and computer-based assignments aimed at giving practical experience with seismic analysis methods used in modern research. 4 credit hours. Standard Letter Graded. Class will meet in room 4041 Natural History Building.

Foundations Environmtl Geology
Section Info:
Foundations of Environmental Geology is a cornerstone course for the Environmental Geology online graduate program (https://igeology.illinois.edu). It covers a range of topics in environmental geology, including field methods, geologic hazards, environmental policy, and site assessment and remedial best practices. Students will also learn Python programming and apply their knowledge and skills to a final project. Through a combination of readings, discussions, seminars, and hands-on exercises, students will build a foundation for their studies and interact with industry partners.
