Introduction to Quantitative Pharmacology
Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.
The interaction between living organisms and substances (drugs) that impact physiology and disease are the focus areas of this course. Concepts are integrated across equilibrium thermodynamics, kinetics, mass transfer, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and structural biology to understand drug design and function. Students will develop skills in quantitative aspects of medicinal chemistry, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics through mathematical models and computer simulations.
3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Credit is not given toward graduation for BIOE 450 and either BIOE 498 QP or BIOE 598 QP. Prerequisite: CS 101 or CS 124, CHEM 232 or CHEM 236, MCB 150, MATH 231.
