NRES 480
Credit: 3 hours.
Human-wildlife interactions will increase in frequency as we continue to encroach on wildlife habitats. This lecture and discussion course will seek to describe human-wildlife interactions along a spectrum from conflict to coexistence. Students will discuss the pros and cons of various measures taken to reduce conflicts and think critically about the ways that attitudes, economics, geography, policies, and culture affect our relationships with wildlife globally. This course aims to enhance students’ capacity as educators, resource managers, and conservationists to overcome negative perceptions of wildlife and to improve outcomes during human-wildlife interactions.
3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. Prerequisite: NRES 348 or equivalent.
