Section Info:
This course will meet in 343L Wohlers Hall. This course introduces several major research topics in business administration with a particular focus on empirical research regarding field experiments and causal inference. The objectives of this course is two-fold: Nurturing students’ taste of business research so that you can tell what “good” empirical research is and introducing several common tools for causal inference such as field experiment design or policy evaluation. To achieve this goal, we will analyze a series of papers or book chapters to enhance our understanding and ability to develop empirical research. The reading materials include top journal publication, recent working papers, or research handbooks. Our area of focus is Operations Management and Information Systems. Moreover, we will also cover a number of studies from other fields such as Marketing and Economics. We will also go through the nuances of causal inference methods and the underlying theoretical framework to build a better foundation.
