Section Info:
This section is for Chancellor's Scholars only; other students may enroll only with special permission from the Campus Honors Program and the instructor. This course will meet in the Honors Classroom (212 Honors) at 1205 W. Oregon. Exploring Leadership: Insights from Philosophy to Pop Culture is designed to guide students toward cultivating mental models of leadership. Students will read (and watch) across a variety of academic disciplines, including philosophy, organizational science, social science, history, literature, and pop culture. Considering examples of leaders from each of these different perspectives will lead to a deeper understanding of how humans generally view leadership as well as how individuals can develop as leaders across various contexts. The course will use the Harkness method as the primary form of engagement and assessment. Harkness is a framework for classroom learning where students facilitate and lead class discussions, which will also present an opportunity for students to develop their interpersonal and conversational competencies.
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Chancellor's Scholar-CHPHonors students.
