The Jain Way: Past and Present
Section Info:
The course is a tribute to the recent exhibition Being Jain. Art and Culture of an Indian Religion held at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich (Switzerland) from November 2022 to April 2023. We will explore the past and present of the Indian religion of Jainism highlighting some of its aspects that hold a special relevance in today’s world, such as environmental protection, sustainability, and the emphasis on a less consumeristic lifestyle. The course is the result of a collaboration with the Rietberg Museum and features original material from the exhibition, such as documentaries, guest lectures, interviews, and a very special board game that students can have fun with!
