SHOW FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE

Credit: 4 hours.

Principles of psychology applied to service problems in the community; students serve as nonprofessional mental health workers in supervised experiences in schools, hospitals, and other nontraditional settings.

May be repeated in the same or subsequent terms to a maximum of 8 undergraduate hours. Prerequisite: PSYC 100; junior or senior standing; and consent of instructor. Individual sections may require additional courses and prerequisites - consult the instructor.

A two-semester commitment is required. To apply please attend the orientations held in late March and early April for the following academic year. Students are required to set aside time every day in their schedules to practice with guided mindfulness audios. Students should plan to take both courses in the sequence. During the first semester, students establish a daily mindfulness practice, learn to work with foundational objects of attention, and learn the theoretical and empirical foundations of mindfulness. This foundational semester will then prepare students for the second course in this sequence (PSYC-341) in which students will deepen their conceptual and experiential understanding while also acquiring the skills to lead brief mindfulness meditations. The second semester course culminates in students offering service learning meditations to their community.
