Spend a week studying, rehearsing, and performing works of Johann Sebastian Bach with some of America's leading experts in Baroque music. Dr. Andrew Megill, Chair of the University of Illinois Choral Area, will lead the event faculty. The week will end with a performance with a period instrument orchestra. This course makes particular use of the unique library collections and archives at the University of Cambridge to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to pursue a research or performance project of their choosing. Students will be guided in selecting a topic, identifying primary and secondary materials, outlining an argument, and constructing a scholarly paper. Supervision will be provided jointly by the faculty director of the Cambridge Summer Music Residency and a Cambridge-based scholar. This course culminates with participation in the Cambridge Summer Residency taking place July 11- August 5, 2022. Restriction(s): Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
