	32421	Discussion/ Recitation	A	4:00PM -5:50PM	T	1020 Lincoln Hall	Barrett, M	Part of Term: 1 Date Range: 01/18/22-05/04/22 Section Info: Description: Insiders and Outsiders: Defining the Body Politic – Beginning with the debate around and fight for birthright citizenship, this course examines the push and pull forces responsible for constituting the body politic in the United States. Special attention will be given to people at the periphery of society who fought for civil rights, democratic principles, and equal standing in society. Like the African Americans who demanded birthright citizenship, this course will highlight the efforts to expand rights beyond legal texts and legislation and, in the process, have reimagined what it means to be a citizen of the United States. Restriction(s): Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
