Section Info:
In this course we will examine the background assumptions, logical consistency, and empirical testability of major theoretical perspectives in sociology by reading selections from the original works of the theorists of the "classical" period as well as by exploring a variety of applications of these theories in essays by contemporary sociologists. Our study of both classic and contemporary theory will familiarize us with the kinds of questions sociologists have asked, as well as what questions get left out or silenced. Restricted to Sociology Major, Sociology Minor or Criminology, Law, and Society Minor during advanced enrollment. Remaining seats will become available during open registration.
