Intro to Contemporary Dance, 3 hours.This course will look at the function of dance and performance art in communities across the globe with a focus on the folkloric dance and artforms. Through research, discussion, and studio practice (dancing/dance making), we will research the form as a means of cultural establishment, political protest, and community preservation. This class meets synchronously online. Students are required to log in and use Compass2g (compass2g.illinois.edu) in order to complete this course.
