This course will be taught in-person. If a student is learning from a distance for the spring 2021 term, please contact the instructor to discuss options for participation in the course offering. A digital SLR camera with interchangeable lenses and manual settings is required for this course. Digital SLR cameras are available for loan at no charge for this course from the undergraduate library or contact the instructor at hmiller1@illinois.edu. This course is designed to acquaint students with the fundamentals of photography, focusing on its application in communicating topics concerning agriculture, food, energy, the environment and community development. It covers the conceptualization and planning of pictures, techniques in producing photographs, and the development of skills to successfully complete visual assignments for the print, broadcast and the online media.
