Section Title:
Revisit AIDS Crisis in Cen IL
Section Info:
Revisiting the AIDS Crisis in Central Illinois - 2021 is the 40th anniversary of the first documented AIDS case in America. In recognition of this milestone, WILL-TV and the Department of Journalism are producing a series of short films to accompany the Spurlock Museum of World Culture's winter exhibition of local quilt panels from the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. These local panels were created in the 80’s & 90’s by friends & family members of men in our community who died of AIDS. This semester’s work will be the first phase of a multiyear multimedia project aimed at memorializing and contextualizing the AIDS crisis as it played out here in central Illinois.
