Section Info:
CW 506: Writing Workshop in Poetry - This course is dedicated to close, critical workshopping of student writing. We will discuss three poems per meeting using both “silent author” and “author question” models. Additionally, we will look at one published poem per class, attending carefully to how its craft techniques affect over-arching themes, ideas, feeling, form, and argument. As these poems will come almost exclusively from non-living writers, we will devote significant time to conversations about literary history, canonization, aesthetics, ethics, and the movements and meanings of American poetry. Admission to this workshop is restricted to MFA graduate students in poetry.
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Creative Writing major(s) or minor(s). Restricted to Graduate - Urbana-Champaign.
